Even Santa knows when visiting Cape Cod it's best to make like a Cape Codder.  Last weekend he left the sled and reindeer home and arrived by boat in Orleans' town cove. The poor fellow bringing in his oyster haul right before Santa's arrival must have wondered who all those people were waiting on shore!
	Santa arrived soon after and got a police escort straight to Snow's Home & Garden to visit with the kids.  Do you think any of them asked for Jobi Pottery?!?!

It's almost time for our annual Holiday Sale.  On December 13th and December14th from 10am to 5pm we will be offering great deals as well as plenty of hot cider and fresh-baked treats to get everyone in the holiday mood.  Choose from a variety of mugs, platters, vases, butter dishes, plates, napkin holders and more for your holiday gifts.  “Pinch” pots and napkin rings decorated with the famous Jobi minnow also make great inexpensive stocking stuffers for anyone who loves Cape Cod.   Hope to see some of you here. All over the Outer Cape you will encounter flocks of wild turkeys.  Sometimes they'll even stop traffic on Route 6.  Last week one of those birds paid a visit to our front door step.  We named him "Jerry."  It would have been nice to have Jerry around for a while but Schooner, The Jobi Pottery dog, made sure she let Jerry know exactly who that front porch belonged to. Maybe it was good Jerry didn't stick around.  We just took some beautiful platters out of the kiln, perfect for that Thanksgiving bird. Here's a look at two of them.

It is cold!  We just had our first bit of snow yesterday and it's dipping down into the 20s at night.  It seems like just the other day that everyone who stopped by was in shorts, sun-dresses, and flip flops.  It is sunny and beautiful today and we are still getting some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world but we're already missing summer.  If you need a gift for someone who's yearning for a little bit of Cape Cod this winter, we have these brand new Truro mugs that will make them smile.  Perfect for coffee, hot chocolate or mulled wine!

Jobi Pottery has had several talented artists working here over the years.  Acclaimed Cape artists Nancy Whorf, Kay Graham, and Beverly Spenser have all painted pottery at Jobi.  Jobi employee ELYSSA COHEN graduated from the University of Fine Arts, Philadelphia this spring and reported for duty at Jobi Pottery the next day! When the CAPE COD LIFE 2009 Calendar came out we were thrilled to see one of Elyssa's beautiful photographs featured for the month of February.

Elyssa's image captures everything that is most austere and beautiful about the Cape in winter, it must have been an easy pick for the editors.  It is in our opinion the best image in the whole calendar.  It's the same feeling captured by Edward Hopper in his  memorable painting of Corn Hill. It's hard to believe it's that time of year again.  The leaves here are beautiful shades of gold, red and yellow but there's a chill in the air and we've had our first frost. This summer we had lots of visitors who were already thinking ahead and stocking up on Christmas presents.  If that's not you it's not too late to order Jobi Pottery in time for Christmas delivery.  Here are some gift ideas.  Check back for more ideas soon. Make sure to get orders for anything to be shipped in to us by November 15th to ensure it gets there by Christmas.	Our new bright red color was a big hit this summer.  As soon as anything red came out of the kiln it flew right out the door.  A great gift for someone who entertains is one of our bread plates.  This one's red but we've got them in all different colors.  Pair it with a pinch pot for a nice set.
Whales!  We've got them in three sizes.  The little ones are great for toothpicks, stamps or paper clips.  One little boy we know uses his to house his shark tooth collection! We've got two sizes of whale "piggy banks."  We can personalize these with a child's name across the front.  A great gift for the grandkids.	Mugs, Mugs, Mugs.  We have lots of them in bright colors and traditional Jobi designs.  These make great gifts for teachers, friends or someone who likes a big cup of coffee in the morning.
